Among the best seasons of American Idol, season five contained a shocking elimination and an intense battle between two substantial contestants to the end for the win. 200 million television viewers watched that night as Taylor won over Katherine McPhee. Less than three weeks after his Idol triumph in 2006, Taylor’s debut single, “Do I Make You Proud,” entered Billboard’s Hot 100, Pop 100 and Single Sales Charts at the No. 1 spot. People magazine then named him “Hottest Bachelor of the Year.”
Since that time, Taylor has been busy. Not only has he released multiple independent albums such as “In Your Time” and “The Distance”, he wrote an autobiography called “Heart Full of Soul” (Random House), was featured on Jimmy Fallon’s Grammy Award-winning album “Blow Your Pants Off,” starred in the hit Broadway musical Grease as Teen Angel and secured a long-term residency in Las Vegas performing at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.
Now when he is not on tour, you can find Taylor on ISP Television Network hosting a new food and travel show called State Plate. On this program Taylor travels from state to state trying out menu items that distinctively represent the area. Be it Georgia peaches, Texas chili, Maryland crab cake or Idaho potatoes, Taylor is traveling to farms, ranches, markets and festivals to try these “emblematic foods” and share the story behind them.
Join the Nampa Civic Center’s professional house as it celebrates music, culture and community in its newly named John Brandt Performing Arts Theater with Taylor Hicks.
